John Cena was born in West Newbury, United States. John was born as the second child of father John Cena Sr. and mother Carol. He started his education from a local Catholic school. He then attended a boarding school and after finishing school went to Springfield College for higher education. During his student life, John was a football player. He was the captain in his college in football matches. However, later he stopped playing football saying that he was not suitable for the football game. After completing his graduation in 'Exercise Physiology' and 'Human Anatomy', he went to California to pursue a career in bodybuilding.

John Cena, who went to California with the determination to make his career in bodybuilding, struggled a lot. He used to work as a driver for a company for money and he did not earn enough to pay for living and stay in an apartment. However, he never forgot his dream and main goal. The following year, he teamed with Shawn Michaels and won the World Tag Team Championship from Edge and Randy Orton. Then in 2008, he teamed with Batista and won the World Tag Championship from Cody Rhodes and Teddy DiBiase. He also won the World Heavyweight title by defeating Chris Jericho. The following year he won the WWE Championship from Randy Orton in an 'I Quit' match. Also in 2010, he won the WWE Championship from Rey Mysterio. John Cena rapped for the fifth WWE single titled 'Basic Thaganomics', which was included in the 2004 WW soundtrack album 'WW Originals'. Then next year he released his first album 'You Can't See Me'. In the year 2000, he entered the acting field with the film 'Ready to Rumble'. He was then seen in 'The Marine' in 2006 which was produced by WW Studios. WWE Studios later produced 'Twelve Rounds' and 'Legendary'. In 2009, he appeared in the children's film 'Fred: The Movie' and then acted in the action film 'The Reunion', the comedy films 'Trenrich', 'Sisters', 'Daddy's Home'.
John married Elizabeth, a friend from his student days, on 11 July 2011. But after three years of marriage, they broke up. He then continued his relationship with Stephanie, better known as Nikki Bella in the game. After playing a mixed tag team at WrestleMania 33, he formally proposed to Nikki in April 2017.
